Puppy Training Biting

Biting is only natural in puppies but this should be controlled and not develop into harder biting as the puppy grows older.

The best thing to do at play time is to avoid letting your puppy bite your hand; don’t make your hand a play toy. Get lots of chewing toys for your puppy to play with.

Avoid playing rough with the puppy, this only increases the chances it can become violent when it’s older. Reward your dog for good behavior while playing. If the dog starts to bite firmly say “No”.

If despite being patient the puppy is still biting then immediately stop playing with the puppy as a punishment.

With some patience your puppy will learn to stop biting and play nicely with you and others.

However, if after a month or so of training your puppy to stop biting your puppy still doesn’t learn then you should consider puppy obedience classes for more help. The benefit of these puppy classes is that your puppy will be able to socialize with other puppies and people a well.
